For the past year or so we have been working on a special research project at LIVE WELL Exercise Clinic: analyzing the health data we collect from our members when they come to exercise at a LIVE WELL location.
From speaking to our members and hearing from their doctors’ we knew anecdotally that our lifestyle and exercise program got results and helped our members lower their blood pressure to safe levels. But now we have proven it!
Our data, analyzed by Sentis Research, a third party data analytics company, showed that our program helps members lower their systolic blood pressure better than medication! And with no unpleasant side effects, such as headaches, nausea, cough, dizziness etc.
What makes this study so special is that our members are ordinary people, many with chronic health conditions, and many of whom never exercised regularly in their lives before joining LIVE WELL Exercise Clinic. Not your typical gym-goers.
LIVE WELL members with hypertension (systolic blood pressure over 140) saw an average reduction of 19.4 mmHG. That is a 13% drop in systolic blood pressure! Most medications can help reduce systolic pressure by 7.5 mmHG. Results were from 200 members in our program for 6 months.
“Medications can reduce blood pressure by 5mmHg -10mmHg, but many have side effects. Our members experience double that - a drop of 19.4 mmHG with no nasty side effects! Many have been able to get off blood pressure meds completely since joining our program,” says Founder & President Sara Hodson.
